BOC and the death of the overblown live album.

"When this album came out, the live albums that were being released were overlong, unnecessary, and in some cases, inane (usually released to fulfill contractual obligations). So, when I purchased this album as a fan of BOC (after getting hooked a few years earlier with Secret Treaties), I was hoping it would be trancend those other albums. It does. Essential tracks, one concert, and one mood. Just a great collection to highlight the high flying rock sound of the group. All of the musicianship of the album is magnificent. In the end, the thing that still gets me revved up and ready to rock is Astronomy and it's featured moment: the greatest live guitar solo EVER recorded. Buck takes us from mellow and moody to careening over a rock cliff in a single solo. My #1 rock moment."
Bought it for the cool cover and "don't fear the reaper"

"This was my first Blue Oyster Cult CD. I bought it 'cause of the cool Grim Reaper album cover art and because it had "don't fear the reaper" on it. I had no idea it was recorded live when I bought it, and might have gone with a greatist hits package if I had known. I'm glad I didn't though, because I LOVE it. While I think the song "R U ready to rock" is so dorky it's hilarious, I also think it's the perfect album opener. This is just a fun, live rock record that one shouldn't take too seriously. I now own 4 B.O.C. CDs and 2 LPs. I love this band. If you like live stuff, get this CD."
Very good and short live album

"Some Enchanted Evening (1978) has only seven songs on it, but all of them show Blue Oyster Cult at their best. They're a good live band (I saw them in 2001). This album is a perfect example.
Some of the highlights: The album opens with the Spectres song "R.U. Ready 2 Rock". Next is the Agents Of Fortune classic "E.T.I. (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)". This has always been one of my favorite BOC songs. Next is another favorite, the Secret Treaties classic "Astronomy". This is a very good live version of this great song. BOC's signature song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" rocks as usual, as does "Godzilla".
This live album is short and sweet. I think you'll like this album if you like live albums. It's one of the better ones I've heard from any band out there."
