Not Bluegrass Per Se

"If you are a fan of tasty banjo playing, and the prospect of hearing female vocals that will cause you to totally forget you ever heard of the Trio album appeals to you, this CD could well be the ticket. Cathy Fink, her excellent instrumental skills notwithstanding, has one of the most individual singing voices I have ever heard. With a dusky quality that dovetails in a near perfect fashion with the voice of her oft times project partner Marcy Marxer, together they produce duets of a harmonic complexity which may surprise you and cause you to ask "Why haven't I heard of these people, and who is making the decisions about what I listen to in such a way as to make me miss this until now?" Add the talents and support vocals of Laurie Lewis on fiddle, Molly Mason on doghouse, and Sally Van Meter on dobro/lap steel and you can not go wrong. Traditional instrumentation, bluegrass sensabilities, and just enough swing to keep things moving along make this one to leave in the cd player for the long term. (My only regret is that having developed a taste for this unique and satisfying combination of talents has resulted in over a decade of deep frustration while waiting for their next offering.)"
