This Ain't No Dance Record

"Rolling Thunder, the latest in the legal Bootleg series, makes up for what the boys in the suits at Columbia left off "Hard Rain." The stuff with Baez is superb, the acoustic stuff even better. The versions of "Tangled up in Blue" and "Love Minus Zero/No Limit" are as good if not better than the originals, as if that could even be possible. The ripping version of "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall," that should have been on the "Hard Rain" LP released two decades ago is a scorcher. "Isis" is a dirge you don't wanna miss and "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, it Takes a Train to Cry," will get your blood pumping. This ain't no dance record, but it gets five stars anyway.
