CD ReviewsSherwood swings again! Timothy A. Quale | Ogden, Utah | 05/14/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I have played this CD over and over and over!! I never get tired of it, each and every song is a winner. I wasn't that aware of Bobby and his band before I got a hold of this recording. But it will turn your world up side down! He plays a terrific trumpet and sings well too. Listen to "Floatin'" and I know you'll agree this guys band was something special." One of the Great Overlooked Big Bands Duncan MacLeod | Kingston, NH | 08/03/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you're into the seriously kicking "swing era" big band sounds--like Goodman, Basie, Shaw, and post-1940 Tommy Dorsey, you'll be blown away by "Elks Parade" and the other up-tempo cuts on this album. Where have this guy's recordings been all these years? Besides putting together a truly great band, Sherwood shows himself a fine composer, arranger, trumpeter, guitarist, and--oh yes--singer. The CD is a fine sampler of the seemingly endless output of this underrated genius during the peak period of his band's success. Of all the tracks on the disc, there's not a dud in the lot. There are other very good musicians on this album, and you will play it over and over if you're any kind of big-band enthusiast." A must-have for the hot big band collector Cousin Hepcat | 04/02/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "After many years scouring flea markets and thrift shops as a kit for big band era original 78s, I quickly learned to grab any Bobby Sherwood disc that could be found. The first track, Elk's Parade, says it all! This is great for the swing-dancing lindy hopper hepcats and the serious big band listeners alike. If you like arrangements that are hot and hard-driving yet really tight and "together", this is a must have, period."
