CD Reviews

AttenCHUN!.....this SUCKS!
Niggarachi | USA | 08/20/2003
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Well, what do we have here? Bone Crusher...another athlete (in case you didn't know, Bone Crusher used to play line during college football...hence, where he was given his nickname-now-rap name "Bone Crusher") wannabe rapper. Though he had numerous albums before AttenCHUN!, his smash single "Never Scared" is what got his name on the map in the rap game. While "Never Scared" is considered by many to be an anthem of the streets, the hardcore airplay that joint received killed the momentum of his album-coming out party. Even though "Never Scared" grew infectious as a rowdy bump-a-thon for those subs in your ride, overall, his material has grown tiresome, as you will hear throughout the album. AttenCHUN! tries to live up to the standards of Lil' Jon and all those other cats who exemplify the "Kings of Crunk" image, but all in all, everything falls flat. Lets face it, Bone Crusher isn't a good lyricist at all and just about every track (if not all of them) on the album have featured guests, which take away from the spotlight of Bone Crusher...I mean, this is HIS album, right? It's almost as if Bone Crusher was only present to sing the hooks and chorus of every track rather than spit fire on the mic like he says he can do. Nonetheless, AttenCHUN! is nothing special to the so-called "hip hop game" we've got going on right now, as I promise this album will be overlooked and forgotten very soon. The only cuts I thought were decent was the single "Never Scared" and "Grippin' The Grain." Bone Crusher...you crushed my heart."

"He is not a rapper and nothing he makes is to be considered hip hop. Please explain how anyone can like this crap."
A so so attempt at cashing in on ATL crunk popularity

"did you get the double meaning of the title of my review???well, did you???ANSWER ME!!!! anyway enough of the nonsense, down to business.this is an ok album i suppose.a little patchy in places.this seems to be endemic in "ATL crunk" albums, clearly the sound doesnt stretch over an album well.after a nice intro, then "never scared",which im sure you've all heard by now, theres a nice track "back up".hard song, though bone crushers voice can get annoying.the chorus is hot, some guy called dru delivers a short, but dope verse."grippin the grain",then "puttin in work" hit hard as well, the latter of which featuring a good david banner verse.unfortunately for bone, banner comes much much better than he ever could.after that a few rubbish tracks, then the best song on the album "its me"....man this is hot!!!!!!why, cos it features everyones favourite loony tune, lil jon!!! yeahhh....even though he's only on the chorus its great."who these N*****,swerving from lane to lane" Mr. Crusher asks.... "its me N****,its me N****" replies jonathan,in his usual quiet style."HAHA,its me,its me N****"!!!!! Brilliant!!!!!!! after that everything else pails into insignificance.......so,to conclude this rather poor review,i mentioned 5 songs.these are the only ones i ever listen to.hardly value for money is it???the rest of it is as weak as puddle water.is it worth buying?you decide.i bought it,and even though i only listen to less than a third of the tracks i dont regret owning it.for hardcore crunk fans only, and if you do buy it,dont be surprised to be slightly disappointed.2 and a half out of 5."
