CD ReviewsThe beat goes on... 12/28/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "From the first beat to the last beat, your foot doesn't stop stomping, your heart doesn't stop soaring, and your soul doesn't stop singing. Just listen. It's organic rock and roll done w/out the aid of electric instruments. Like AC/DC? You'll like Bonepony. Like bluegrass? You'll like Bonepony. Like anything in between? You'll like Bonepony.I've been listening since their first album, Stomp Revival. On this live album, it's amazing to realize that on all but 4 songs, there are only 3 guys responsible for the music.Since you can't review an album without naming highlights, and forced myself to choose Old Song, East Texas Rhythm, and Feast of Life. It doesn't stop there. I had my mother (Andy Williams, Perry Como, etc.), my brother (REM, Soul Asylum, etc.), and my wife (Jo Dee Messina, George Strait, etc.) tapping at the same time.Bonepony marches to the beat of every drummer and this album showcases them perfectly." Wrote it out on a napkin A Former President of the United St | Auburn, AL | 07/29/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "So I saw these guys at a little bar, long since closed down, in Auburn, AL about 7 years ago. It was a game day, which here is BIG deal for such a town. They had advertised their presence by standing on a sidewalk earlier that day and jammin' the three part harmony all over the southern crowd. So I went, but there was barely anyone there. Still, I damn near cried every song, especially Old Song. When I could catch my breath I remember specifically writing down why I loved them so much on a bar napkin. Then I spilt my beer and never gave them my letter of thanks. No worries. Soul; man it was so frikin' IN THE AIR! that night. Go see these guys." Good Stuff Maynard Dave Kelley | woodbury, mn United States | 02/18/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "I highly recommend this disc and all of Bonepony's music to any one who enjoys blues, country, soul, blue grass and southern rock. I saw Bonepony as a warm up band to John Hiatt and became an instant fan. The lyrics and the energy of the music captivated me from the beginning. This disc is a collection of some of the bands best material. "Bayou Sky" is the best track on the disc. When listening to "Fun House", the listener is pulled right into the crowd and feels like part of the show. The band plays their songs similar to their studio releases, but also allows for some jamming and crowd interaction to spice up this release. As a fan of southern music I really enjoy Bonepony's music because it encorporates so many different styles of music including blues and bluegrass. With the popularity of the "Down from the Mountain" soundtrack and tour, one would expect Bonepony to grow in popularity due to the similarity of their grass roots style music and the current trend in the music industry of music that is bluegrass in nature.
Buy this disc! You won't be disapointed." |
