"So much has been said about this album and why it did not succeed. So many of the songs on this album were all terrific recordings, Bonnie's voice was in fine form. She just didn't get the industry respect or push by Warner Bros. to get one song played. Buy this and listen to Bonnie dig into "Your Good thing (Is about to end),"Going Wild for you Baby", The soulful "I thank You", her own original "Standin' by the same old love" and the unmistakeable style of "The boy can't help it". I felt some of the production could have been a little looser here and there but it should have been played on the radio."

"Needless to say Bonnie Raitt has many wonderful moments.Up until now I knew of primarly for her hit albums 'Nick Of Time' and 'Luck Of The Draw' but 'The Glow' from 1979 is certainly in nearly the same vein. One reason is the fabulous title song,a stripped back jazzy ballad delivered with terrtic finese from Ms.Raitt, showing for all certainty what a great vocal stylist she can be.
Typical of the 70's era Bonnie Raitt this album is primarily devoted to covers,in this case mostly coming from the pens of Isaac Hayes,David Porter and Jackson Browne. The 'hit' is also the spikiest rocker on the album-a cover of Robert Palmer's "You're Gonna Get What's Coming".Bonnie Rait contributes the excellent "Standin' By The Same Old Love" which is such a strong slice of blues that I wonder why Peter Asher wasn't letting her write more during this period of her career.
At any rate it is albums like this that has influenced a whole generation of caucation female blues performers, even if Bonnie Raitt began at this point offering a deversified mix of blues, rock,R&B and in this case even a bit of night club jazz.In any case any fan of Bonnie Raitt or rocking blues and soul styled music will have a a terric time listening to this CD!!"

"This was Bonnie Raitt's sixth solo record, recorded in 1979. It is a solid CD with many good songs. "The Glow" and "(Goin') Wild For You Baby" are two of my favorites. These songs show the early maturity of Raitt's future success. While the other songs on the disk are good they can't compare with her more contemporary recordings. This is still a must have for any Bonnie Raitt collector."

"Bonnie singing Jazz? My Lord, what is the world coming to....the title song is a jazzy gem,a sparkling diamond, wow! As a Jazz lover with a bluesy lean, I love the way she handles this song and to use a jazz tune as a title for the album, Bonnie, what's happening...you should be singing more jazz...I love it!"

"I am writing this review of Bonnie Raitt's The Glow. This album is one of the best cd's of Bonnie Raitt's that I own. In the late 1980's, when this album first came out I didn't hear any of it. Just recently I purchased it and put it on my stereo I was totally blown away!!! This is one of the best rock and roll/ Blues cd's!! The song I, Thank You took me by surprise. It reminded me of some of the songs on Sweet Forgiveness. Bonnie's voice is so mellow and bluesy all in one. Thankyou, Bonnie for recording such a wonderful cd full of Rock,Rhythm and
