The classic "Green Onions" is a good case in point. It starts off this album. "Green Onions" may be the only song by this group that most people are familiar with, but this album is full of gems. The jive "Can't Be Still", complete with hand clapping is great and the acid sound of "Boot-leg" was also ahead of it's time. "Tic-Tac-Toe" is a good pop tune and "Be My Lady" is groovy man. And then there is "Summertime", recorded before Janis Joplin's version and it is fantastic. I think I like it the best of any of the other tracks. It is bluesy and sultry, just like Janis' version. And it sticks in my mind days after hearing it. All of these songs are instrumentals. They didn't record vocals. This is a CD you will be proud to have in your collection." A good early "Greatest Hits" collection Stephen Cabral | 04/02/2000 (3 out of 5 stars) "This CD is basically a reissue of the old MG's "best of" LP on Atlantic. It covers the period from 1962 to 1966. There's not a bad song here, but the liner notes stink and the crude cover drawing on the cover is an abomination. "The Very Best of" collection on Rhino includes the best of these songs and a bunch of equally great ones from the MG's great 1966-1970 period. That collection has a nice cover, good liner notes, and photos--it's the best place for beginners to see what the MG's are all about."
