Hailed by critics as "a most artistic representative of the new generation developed in the last half century," Mark Morton is on the faculty at Texas Tech University. He has performed in orchestras (principal bass of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra); been featured in recitals and as a concerto performer and was the first-prize winner of the 1990 International Society of Bassists Solo Competition. He is the author of the popular "Dr. Morton" series of double bass technique books. Morton studied at Juilliard, earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees there. He performs on a double bass made by Gennaro Vinaccio of Naples in the last quarter of the 18th century.
