CD ReviewsSuperbly Unusual Lee Armstrong | Winterville, NC United States | 03/18/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) ""8th & Color" is a disc that hits off the chart for originality. The opening "Thingy" is a whimsical instrumental. "Waltz in Ragtime" puts the xylophone front & center with another lighthearted track. "Mango Juice" has a samba beat with Scott Higgins' breathy male vocals like Chris Montez (remember him?). "Surfology" is what happens when Dick Dale hits the mountains. The violin on "Chou Chou" makes the slow melody emotionally powerful. Other tracks on the set have a unique identity. As instrumentalists, Boulder Acoustic Society are superbly unusual. A stronger vocalist might help vary the set even more. The closing track "Morning by the River" holds a beautiful uplifting feeling. This is a varied set for the listener looking for music out of the mainstream. Enjoy!" A Great Gift B. King | 06/19/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "We attended a performance by the Boulder Acoustic Society last night and have seldom witnessed such a varied and skilled talent. Their music is more than a cut above must groups one hears in today's theatre; the violinist, Kailin Yong, has a wonderful presence. All of the musicians in the group are exceptional and the music flows to your soul. Check their web site then buy a CD; you'll be glad you did."
