"This is a very musical concept album about change and personal transformation. By musical, I mean that each song is a jewel in itself with great musical hooks (choruses that you can belt out in your car), layered arrangements, and wonderful vocals. So you can just enjoy listening to it and feel good. But when you really follow the lyrics, you discover that it's all about the processes we all go through as we grow as human beings, trying to evolve and make changes that are often painful. Many of the tracks are about love, relationship change, and identity issues, but I also found that they were relevant to some changes I'm making in my business life and how I'm balancing that with other priorities. So when I sing along with the amazing title track "Wonderground" it's kind of like an anthem to my own journey. Generally, albums with this much idea-content and paradox in the lyrics end up with a bunch of sound-alike songs that are like poems set to music. Not the case here. That's why I highly recommend this CD. You can listen to it on so many levels. Appreciate it as pure music, use it as a sound track for the changes you're going through, or let the lyrics and music become part of your support system in getting to the next step of wherever you're going in life."

"Anyone who has ever owned a Boy Meets Girl Music CD will undoubtedly purchase this one too. You know that the music is simply the most thoughtful, well composed music out there. If you are not familiar with this band, I highly recommend getting it. I have been a big fan since 1988 or so when I first listened to the "Reel Life" CD. With their new release, "The Wonderground", George and Shannon have added a new level to their creativity. They can do that because they now have their own label. [...] They make music because they love music, and it shows in their final product. I bought 3 copies of this CD."
Real talent from a rare breed

"Duos have always been viewed as a marketing gimmick or the cashing in of a 'family business'. However, although Shannon Rubicam and George Merrill have shared some family moments over the years, their collabarative effort is remarkable in the sheer musicality of their output. Great melodies supported by hearfelt lyrics combine to create perfect 'pop' songs which are far from throw-away! This CD has entranced me. Other reviews mention the journey you are taken on and this is true, but don't reject this album as purely a creative 'concept'. This is a labour of love and the results are magnificent. Never to be a major commercial hit, I believe that with connoisseurs' support, we can make this an important CD for all lovers of contemporay vocal music."

"I used to be a great fan of Boy Meets Girl in the late 80's so it was fantastic to here from them again after such a long time. I must honestly say that I didn't expect much when I bought The Wonderground CD, but I was truly shocked by the quality of the album since I first played it. Their sound is as good as ever. Their music has grown older, it sounds clearer now and the lyrics are deeper and better. For those fans who were fans of their soulful music (those powerful drums + guitars + healing voices) this album will be no deception at all. Among the 11 tracks, I choose "Birds of a feather" for its early 70's feeling and "Second Chance" for being a great free-your-heart song, intimate and strong at the same time (much better that "Is Anybody out there in Love?" from the Reel Life album).
Finally I would encourage every BMG fan to write to them in their website. George and Shannon are the most wonderful people!!They would write you back and let you know their appreciation."
