"It is amazing to follow the career paths of musicians who rose together, achieved success, then burn all of their creative juices, fading away into obscurity, usually never to return. The best sometimes do come back from oblivion and for that we can be thankful. Boz Scaggs and Steve Miller rose together, played together, achieved successes together and apart, made the same Faustian bargains with the disco era then slipped away into the mists of memory. Fortunately, Boz has returned to make two albums which are greater than anything he did before them. The first of these is "Some Change", a tour de force that leaves you wondering why it took so long to come back (the other is the soulful, bluesy "Come On Home). Everything is here: Rock, soul, blues, and jazz. The hard-edged title cut, You Got My Letter and Follow That Man bracket soulful love ballads like I'll Be the One, Call Me, and the haunting Sierra. Fly Like A Bird is a quirky sing-a-long style piece which adds a new dimension to the Scaggs repetoire. Scaggs' suave delivery and inherent sensitivity make it easy to see why Scaggs is always said to be appealing to sophisticated women. This well-rounded album should appeal to both women and men of refined musical taste and sensibility. There is not a bad or mediocre cut on the album."

"As a fan of Boz Scaggs for more than twenty years, I can assure you that this is his very best. You cannot escape the very human appeal that his music conveys. From the first track you are swept up in a lyrical whirlpool of emotion and experience. Almost everyone can find something to relate to. After I had listened to it for more than I would like to admit, the back stories stayed with me long after the music stopped. I was very impressed by this long awaited album and quickly recommended it to one of my friends who also is a fan. The one track that he must have played fifty times was "Fly like a bird". Boz's style has matured and his voice is the most consistant of any performer that has ever sang a ballad or a pop cut. His style is comparable to Nat"king"Cole in the way he brings you into the format or story. It is unfortunate that his music isn't more appreciated. I have already introduced two more generations to his music and hope that some artist will pick up where he leaves off."

"Boz has been a mainstay of pop music culture since the early 70's, and as the century was drawing to a close, he still maintained his own brand of soulful jazz, pop, balladry. This is an exceptional tour de force for Boz. "Time" is one of the best songs Boz has ever recorded with its quiet, introspective opening and its rhythmic build-up. What a song! "Sierra," "Lost It," "Fly Like a Bird," and the title track are also outstanding performances. In all, the album is probably Mr. Scaggs' best, along side "Down Two Then Left". A definite must for true fans of good enduring music!"
