"Brandon Cruz is (perhaps) best remembered as "Eddie" in "The Courtship of Eddie's Father." He's now an editor for the "South Park" TV show and a punk rocker. This album contains three versions of "Best Friend," the theme song for "Courtship." One features Bill Bixby. Another was recorded by Cruz and Mickey Dolenz for the Nilsson tribute album (but it got bumped when Ringo submitted a track). The third version is Cruz's enthusiastic punk version. What makes it very special is that the song's composer, Harry Nilsson, plays piano and sings on the track. Recorded just weeks before his death, it is probably the last completed song Harry recorded."

"It's no secret that Brandon Cruz is a complete joke. This vile CD features him throughout various stages of his career, backed by several different bonehead groups. He even gets Micky Dolenz in on the action. Maybe that sounds like a good time to you, but anyone with half a brain is going to fling this compact disc out the window after hearing the fourth version (in a row!) of "Best Friend." There's also the apocalyptic "Oh Daddy What If," just to put the icing on this urinal cake. An embarrassment for sure, but nothing unexpected from this former "Bad News Bears" child actor turned also-ran rock rube. I can rest easier knowing that fat man McGee is unemployed again."

"This CD features music by former child star turned punk rocker Brandon Cruz. The first cut is from a TV special, where Brandon "sings" a duet of "Daddy What If" with his TV father, Bill Bixby. (Incidentally, the songwriter is listed as "unknown" on this CD, but I happen to know that "Daddy What If" was written by Shel Silverstein.) Then we get two takes of Bill Bixby singing "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" theme song from the same recording session. Then there are two more (punkish) takes of the "Courtship" theme song by Brandon, with Harry Nilsson on one take and Micky Dolenz on the other. The rest of the CD features Brandon singing with various punk bands in the mid '90s. Brandon actually had a good punk voice, but the songs are not really anything special. It's decent punk rock, but nothing spectacular. Anyone wondering "Whatever happened to Eddie?" will find the answer on this CD."
Could have done better...

"I listened to all the covers of "Best Friend". MXPX would have covered "Best Friend" better than Brandon Cruz could have, but perhaps Brandon and MXPX could get together to cover "Best Friend" just once. I would love to hear that!!"
