Pretty Girl Samba!
Leonardo Flores | Rancho Cucamonga, CA United States | 08/26/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"There are many types of samba. There is ethnic samba sounds of Luiz Bonfa, the classical music samba sounds of Baden Powell, The Jazz samba of tom Jobim and the Groovy / psych sounds of Marcos Valle. If you've heard Marcos Valle's Samba 68 and loved it then this album is for you! Brasilia Modern Six's Estreia is a beautiful organ driven samba LP with beautiful vocals by their pretty female singer. Since the liner notes are in Japanease the group lineup shall remain nameless for now. The album also contains some very tight harmonies from the group. Think Spanky and Our gang soft rock with a Walter Wanderly / Brazilian twist.

Songs include I love You (which is credited to Chris White of the Zombies but not the Zombies song of the same name...but still amazing!), lounge versions of light my Fire, Summer rain, say a Little Prayer and those were the days. Great! but what's even better is the Brazillian songs such as Balanco De Crianca, Homem Zero, Roda De Samba.

Is the album worth $30.00? I bought mine at a used record store for way less than that. The tall tale truth is out of the 40+ samba LP/CD's I own I CANNOT live without this one. Lounge/kitch aside This is one hell of an album."
