CD Reviews

Brenda Lee Sings Everything Well
Michael Ewing | Sunnyvale, CA USA | 08/14/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bravo to Ace Records for this fabulous release of two classic Brenda Lee albums. As a child of the rock and roll era, I was pretty unfamiliar with many of the tracks on the Sincerely album...songs considered to be pop standards. I was always more interested in the way Brenda sang the songs than the songs themselves. The rock and roll songs on All The Way are outstanding. Of special interest is the rhumba track, Do I Worry. Brenda's version of Kansas City is second to none. "Big Chance" - "Dum Dum" - "Talkin' Bout You" showcase Brenda as a hot rocker! My favorite cut is "Eventually"...a rock-a-ballad as only Brenda can sing it. Look forward to the remaining 2 releases slated for next year. One can never get enough of Brenda Lee...she's the best!"
Classic early brenda lee album

"altho both lp's are excellent i am mainly referring to the first of the two-"all the way". i bought this lp in a cut out bin in 1972 after i really started to get into yhe music of miss lee. her voice always cheered me up if i was down.all the cuts are good on this lp but the primary selections are foremost "tragedy" which she sings with the utmost passion, the guitar accompaniment is very moving and her voice glows with it. another good cut is "the big chance" which really conveys the energy she has always had a gift for." d i worry" is also grat and i love the wasy she sings "on the sunny side of the street"

buy this cd for the song "tragedy" alone and you won't be disappointed!"
