"Brendan Benson has been my favorite musician ever since my brother first had the cd, and I borrowed it from him. I now have 2 copies, incase something happens to one. :) I can't even explain in words how much I love this album. All of the songs are great, and catchy. I never, ever get sick of this cd. I could go on, and on. I mean, look at my email address. *LoL* My favorite song on this album, although I love EVERY SINGLE ONE is, "Me just purely" Brendan Benson is my hero, and I hope, hope, hope that he comes out with more, because nothing, in my opinion, seems to compare."
One of the best indie pop albums ever

"reminiscent of early elliott smith, but brendan rocks more. he and his band put on a great live show, check out his web site and go see them! Lapalco, his more recent release is a bit more polished, and is also a nearly perfect product of the indie pop category, but One Mississippi has a certain charm and innocence (but if you listen closely enough to some of the lyrics flowing over these sweet melodies, brendan's sick humor comes through, too!). detroit rocks."
So good I gave it to a friend and bought myself another copy

"If I could invent an album with all the elements I love to listen to, this would be it. Thank God Brendan already did! It fills the void the Beatles left, continues the thrashy-pop the Replacements never finished, and makes it all sound so fresh I can't wait to hear more. I only wish I'd thought of it first."

"Arguably the best pop rock album of the Nineties, One Mississippi is a collection of catchy, light hearted songs like "Maginary Girl": "She makes it obvious now her special weakness for softserve ice cream from Dairy Queen." This album also has more introspective songs such as the soulful "House in Virginia." One Mississippi is full of songs you will put on your life's soundtrack, Brendan Benson is a genius-- his long awaited sophomore effort will be released in February 2002."
Why doesn't everybody go buy this album?

"Brendan Benson, in his debut release, One Mississippi, displays a wonderfully mastered mixure of soft tunes with occational jams. I was first introduced to this album by Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. He mentioned Brendan as a prominent rising star and suggested to buy the CD. I respected Dave's opinion and bought it as quickly as possible; a great decision on my part. In many ways, One Mississippi is similar to Colour and Shape. Number one is a very slow and quiet song, Everlong is like Crosseyed, Number six on colour is like Me just Purely, ect.... In closing, I'm not one to waste time writing a review on something I don't believe highly in. Everyone who listens to this album will be satisfied, guaranteed. Email me and rip me if you don't like it though I have a feeling I won't be getting many emails."
