Very Unique Funk Andre S. Grindle | Brewer Maine | 02/05/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Brick's self titled 1977 self titled album is one of,if not my favorite funk album I own on CD.Why is that?Because Brick do something that alot of funk bands weren't doing at the time-mixing light jazz, raggae and even a snatch or two of silly
pop humor into their patented funk sound."Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody","Livin From The Mind" and the dence "Dusic" are the funky hallmarks of this record while tunes like the lighthearted "Happy" have other idea's on their minds. This is an album that will get one's attention and keep it-Brick's decline as a band was a painful one and even their first album isn't nearly this consistantly wonderful. But 'Brick' has a special sound that nothing else in this bands limited catolog has and even if it's OOP on CD (YUCK) if you can find it inexpensively GET IT!You won't regret it!I didn't!" |
