TOXIC but addictive

"I discovered "Toxic" when I first saw the "Toxic" video on TV. My initial reaction was... this can't be Britney... it doesn't even sound like Britney. I think because it's got a europop flavour in it and sounds Kylie-ish. But I automatically loved this track. It's catchy... it's nice... it's different... and it's unusual...PERFECT. When I bought the CDsingle, something familiar was on the credit list...CATHY DENNIS--one of the co-writter/producer of Kylie's mega-hit track "Cant Get You Out of My Head". And Ms.Spears was so lucky to collaborate with her because it reinvented the boring old Britney sound. The sighs in this song is truly hypnotic. The album version is still the best mix in comparisson to the remixes(a bit boring). Goodbye to the new Body Language Kylie... hello Britney. "Toxic" debut at #1 here in Australia."
Britney's Greatest Moment To Date

"A few days ago Britney Spears once again shocked the world when her raunchy Onyx Hotel Tour concert was broadcast on Showtime. Angry parents across the country jammed phonelines to complain as Britney writhed around in just a pink bra, knickers and suspenders. It was splashed across the front of most of the British tabloids yesterday, and I took a copy to school today - the lads swooned, the girls spat venom and my English teacher held it up in front of his class and asked, "Is this vulgar girl supposed to appeal to teenage girls?" Needless to say, an argument ensued to which many people agreed with me over him! Britney is growing up, she's not a little girl anymore. She's expressing herself, it's been done before so why the big fuss over Britney? Christina, Pink, Janet and Madonna have done it all, but no one quite gets as much criticism as Britney. It's easy to see why: she sells newspapers and, quite frankly, they'd be nowhere without her. This is just another headline that has 'shocked' the world recently from Britney, along with her Las Vegas wedding at the start of the year. However, the biggest shock concerning Britney, especially amongst haters and non-fans, must have come with the release of "Toxic" upon the world. The second single from her multi-platinum fourth No.1 album "In The Zone," this song is literally the song of 2004. Fresh, funky, catchy and infectious - Toxic is everything a brilliant and outstanding pop song should be. People couldn't quite believe what they were hearing when Toxic dominated the airwaves a month ago or so. The song went straight to No.1 in England, Australia, Ireland, South Africa and many other countries. The song also peaked inside the US Billboard Top 10 at No.9. Toxic is Britney's biggest hit for four years and one of the most played radio songs of the past few years...and what were people saying last year? Britney's over. Shyeah right...Toxic opens with a fantastic, loud and instant beat that stops and starts before the now-classic four-note string section introduces itself. This occurs four times before Britney starts singing the first verse, "Baby can't you see? I'm calling. A guy like you should wear a warning. It's dangerous, I'm falling. There's no escape, I can't wait. I need a hit, baby give me it. You're dangerous, I'm loving it!" The strings then carry on, before Britney's high-pitched and breathy vocal section which is damn catchy, "Too high, can't come down. It's in my head spinning round and round. Do you feel me now?" The strings then go at it again, before a subdued buzz makes way for the chorus, "With a taste of your lips I'm on a ride. You're toxic, I'm slipping under. With a taste of poison paradise, I'm addicted to you, don't you know that you're toxic? And I love what you do, don't you know that you're toxic?" Britney then starts singing the second verse in perfect synchronicity with the rest of the beat and bass. She sings, "It's getting late to give you up. I took a sip from the devil's cup. Slowly, it's taking over me."Britney then sings the high-pitched breathy section once more before the second chorus. After its finished, the beat drops and Britney starts screaming "Aaaah!" in this amazing voice that works well for her range as the electric beats slide all over the beat creating one hell of a climax. Britney then sings the chorus twice more, before she sings, "Intoxicate me now, with your loving now, I think I'm ready now!" The strings then go again and the song just ends abruptly. The video to Toxic is, by far, Britney's greatest work of music video art to date. There must've been no limit to the expenditure on this video, as it looks like it cost just a bit over $1 million! It starts off with Britney on a plane as an air hostess playing the very stereotypical role. She then smooches a big fat man in the toilets before ripping his mask off to reveal a hunky younger model, from whom she steals a bomb. We then see Britney in Paris, with red hair, before mounting a motorbike with movie superstar stud Tyrese as he drives her to Toxic Industries. Once there she blows up the building with the bomb, enters and steals a poison, but uh-oh! She gets caught by the security lasers, and what's her way to get out of there? By dancing and back-flipping her ass off in time to the beat through those pesky lasers, before soaring to her cheating ex-lover and killing him with the poison! And so ends a classic music video! This CD single features three remixes. The first is "Toxic - Lenny Bertoldo Mix Show Edit," which is incredibly hyper and catchy. A superb remix and the best on offer here. The other two are "Toxic - Armand Van Helden Remix Edit" and "Toxic - Felix Da Housecat's Club Mix," both of which leave a bit to be desired. However, they're still worthwhile for Britney's hardcore fans. All in all, this is by far the best Britney song we've ever heard from her. It's so unique, fresh and funky that people will be grooving to it for years!"
Britney should do this kind of music more often.....

"First off, I am a former huge Britney fan. Back in 1998 I collected every CD, autograph, memorabilia I could find. Now, I find her annoying, self absorbed, somewhat out of touch with society....Still, lets all admit that Toxic is a fun song. After Britneys last CD which was pretty horrible, Toxic is refreshing to all former and present Britney fans...This CD only has 4 tracks, but it's worth it if your a Britney fan...Track 1. The album version
Track 2. Alblum instrumental(no vocals, Karaoke version)
Track 3. The intoxicated remix(a smoother album version)
Track 4. Van Helden Remix(An awesome club dance remix)If Britney is reading... Please do more music like this on your next album and don't be afraid to throw some of these great dance remixes on a regular album for the older audience....This is Britneys best remix album since Lucky 2!"

"Personally I have no more to say than way to go Britney!!!! I really usually don;t like her songs but this time round with Toxic I loved it so much after I saw it on TV that I ordered this single. It goes well together the Maxi-Single of Msuic from Madonna. If you wanna groove all night or just listen to something. Then I recommend you get this single together with Britney's new album. I recommend you wouldn't regret it. Again another round for BRITNEY."
