CD Reviews

Stellar Country Music
ILikeAmazon | Arlington, VA USA | 08/25/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's all typical country, with the usual subject matters and the twangy steel guitars, etc. So, what makes this music so special?: Very high quality songwriting and superb singing by Ronnie Dunn. Kix Brooks isn't a bad singer (and the harmonzing with Ronnie sounds great), but he's not in Ronnie's league. Listen to Boot Scootin' Boogie on a high-quality stereo system -- this song is particularly well-produced and the vocals don't have any false echo chambering or reverb (unlike Neon Moon) -- we get to hear Ronnie Dunn's unadulterated sustain on the first "Go to boot scootin' boogie" and it's an act of pure loveliness, along with beautiful phrasing and intonation throughout. Kix Brooks can certainly write/co-write great songs, but with Ronnie available to do the singing, Kix should probably content himself with valuable harmonizing duties. We all know the great songs here: All Of Them! Lots of well-deserved #1 hits. An essential country record."

"This was a awesome introduction, In what came to be Country musics best duo of all time. This CD produced four number one songs And launched a juggernaut we now call Brooks & Dunn Frm the ruckus Brand New Man to the two steepen Boot Scoot Boogie to the soulful Neon Moon, This CD was great and still holds up today"
