CD ReviewsIrrepressable Pennsylvania wit showcases his soft side... 09/13/1998 (4 out of 5 stars) "Those familiar with Brother JT (Johnny Terlesky to his parents) from his work with the high-impact garage outfit Original Sins or the trippier but no less confrontational Vibrolux might take a while to warm up to the snaky, laid back grooves employed on Come On Down. No furious organs or clamoring feedback to sink your teeth into here, but all told it's one of his most satisfying works. His acutely wry lyrical vision is as acidic (as it were) as ever, but the sound textures are brittle, spacious, and haunting like a barely recalled dream. Bittersweet autumn afternoon soundtracks like "Red Cathedral" and "Lazy" would hardly make anyone shake his or her * , but damn if they don't put you in a spooky, beautiful mindset that radio and MTV are apparently oblivious too. This is a good thing. Spend some time with this thing and you'll be a better person for it." All the way there and back Harrison Knerr | Slatedale, PA | 11/30/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "Instructions:1.come on down melts like a fresh acrylic painting next to a furnace on a hot day.
2.these songs were always there but only jt heard them. 3.be absorbed/saturate yourself. 4.reach a definitive indefinition. (as a drummer in the band, though not on this record, i speak with authority) selah" |
