"Bruce Carroll had a few hits in the 90's, but never really set the Christian music world on fire. Which is a shame because he released some great music. And this CD is one of his best.
Bruce's music can best be described as a combination of folk, pop, and bluegrass. Obviously, some songs have more of one sound then the others, but a good mix of the three is "Here I Go Again." While the majority of the song is pop, the instrumental segments feature some nice folky bluegrass music. And the lyrics about moving forward in hard times are wonderful.
I'm a sucker for songs about trusting God, so "I Want to Trust You," about the struggle to trust God was a hit right away. Funny man Mark Lowry helped co-write the final track, "God Doesn't Know" which does point out some things an all knowing God doesn't know.
Most of the songs are mellow, like "Speed of Light" and "I Want to Trust You." "Someday I May Rise Above it All" is definitely on the bluegrass side of things, while "You Can Get There from Here" is upbeat folk.
The amazing thing is that all these influences can mix together for such a great album. Yes, there are a couple tracks I don't care for, but the others more then make up for it. If you want something different that will still speak to your heart, get this disc."
