Fun and well produced

"A combination of early-to-mid sixties surf knock offs like the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean coupled with 1970's solo recordings. Lots of instrumentals here, some sound like 1960s "B" movie beach/surf soundtracks. The highlight is really the later 1970's recordings of solo Bruce - good production, nice melodies and harmonies. Bruce gets to show his skills as a keyboardist, singer, arranger and producer. He was/is overshadowed in the Beach Boys, but here you can see his talent stand out. Lots of obvious influence from genius Brian Wilson. The highlights are "I Write the Songs", Bruce's classic and most well known composition, re-recordings of "Disney Girls" and "Deidre". "Rendevouz" is a catchy little ditty which could have been a hit single for either Bruce or the Beach Boys. If you are a Beach Boys or Bruce fan, you will enjoy it! The CD insert has a nice bio on Bruce, but they could have selected a better cover than a picture of Bruce drinking a beer."

"OK, I will admit it, I am a Bruce Johnston closet fan. Now having said that, stick with "Going Public" it's full of the hooks and sappy balled writing that we have come to love. By the way If I just reviewed Going Public I would have given it three stars."
