"It's not often that you get to hear a guitar led jazz quartet, but when Bucky Pizzarelli is invlolved the results can be sensational. The guitar playing on this album, by Bucky and his son John, ranges from lyrical to exciting to spellbinding. Bucky plays with a charming bluesy sensibility that, in the Billie Holiday standard Willow Weep for Me, creates a palpably dark mood. Whereas in Honeysuckle Rose and Sing Sing Sing, the guitar playing is suitably uptempo and bright sounding. The drummer and bass player in the combo are excellent, with the bassist offering a few examples of scat singing. Bucky Pizzarelli has recorded so often as a side man that chances to hear him featured and doing his own thing are relatively rare. This CD is a study in world class Jazz guitar playing."
