"MCA/Chess usually make the best compilations of their own artists, but Spectrum has put out a really good Buddy Guy-retrospective with "The Buddy Guy Collection". It doesn't beat Rhino's Buddy Guy-collection, or MCA/Chess' "Buddy's Blues", but it gives them a run for their money, managing to include many of Guy's best early recordings. This CD is filled with smouldering slow blues, all anguished vocals and screaming lead guitar..."First Time I Met The Blues", "Leave My Girl Alone", "When My Left Eye Jumps", and "Ten Years Ago" are all among the finest electric blues of the 60s. But having said that, there is no reason to pay import price for this when you can get "Buddy's Blues" for twenty dollars less."
