CD ReviewsSomething Went Wrong! Reijo Piippula | Turku, Finland | 01/04/2009 (3 out of 5 stars) "I am a real fan of Budgie's first five studio albums. I think "Bandolier" is their best album. This album is unfortunately overproduced. The songs are not as good as before and there's a little phunkier style. I thought that they could have do this kind of album after Bandolier which was so great. I was wrong. Still, there's some great songs, like "Black Velvet Stallion", the title track, and "You're Opening Doors". However, "Anne Neggen" is one of the worst Budgie songs I've ever heard. And it's an opening track! I wonder why they made this kind of album - - - well Black Sabbath failed after "Sabotage" and Led Zeppelin after "Physical Graffiti" - so it's no wonder, I guess. It started on BANDOLIER and got refined here.A little funky in the rhythm but still has some heavy crunch.Tony Bourge does errupt his trade mark sludge here and there, but this was the late 70's and funk and dance was creepin and cross breeding into all the acts on major labels. This was the first major on A & M in America and the kiss of death of course. They did one more with Tony and than went into Budgie- mach 4..."
