Synopsis

Album Description
Last fall, By the End of Tonight released their debut EP, 'Fireworks on Ice,' to resounding acclaim. It also met deserved criticism for its drum-heavy no-fi production. With the arrival of their debut full-length, 'A Tribute to Tigers,' the band refines its strengths and strengthens its weaknesses to create a transcendent melting pot of rock and metal. Produced in an actual recording studio (albeit for only $300), the four boys of By the End of Tonight almost stand still for a couple moments during the album. The scorching metal riffs of 'Fireworks on Ice' are distilled through hyper-emotional crescendos and vivid, playful melodies. The drums are more subdued, and the controlled chaos propels the dynamics of each song to new heights. By the End of Tonight have done what few others have achieved: giving virtuosity heart, and letting that heart determine the pulse of their music. They have a rare gift for shrugging off genres and finding the concentrated emotional! core of every melody they play, all the while keeping your eyelids glued to your forehead.

Ups and downs

"Well, I am a hardcore musician, so I do have some critisizm....

The writing on this album is very creative, as are the rhythms, chords, etc. This band is very cool, and really fun to listen to. It has grown on me a lot (luckily).

My only problem is that the guitarists are really messy, and even sometimes rhythmically uneven. If they had clearer guitars, maybe with some more delay on, then this album would shine like no other.

The music in this album is hard to describe, only one term comes to mind: A.D.D. They have many transitions, and they can be random at times, but it all works well somehow. This does have some emo qualities to it.

Overall, this band is unique, has there own music to speak, and I encourage buying this album."

"by the end of tonight's new album a tribute to tigers is awesome. it is quite different then there previous releases but better in a lot of ways. this is more powerful and beautiful. there old records were awesome but was really just chaos and wasnt exactly peaceful to listen to but was awesome. if you listened to there first releases and didnt like them, and are more in to the explosions style of things, this is for you."
