"Shows restrain and passion of CPE's days in Berlin under Frederick the Great, himself a flautist. The passion of his keyboard compositions are here restrained, but dignified and reserved.Favorite is Oboe Concerto in B Flat, with a magnificent performance on the Allegretto by Holliger.Unique and rare harp concerto by CPE Bach, only one he did, is performed admirably by Ursula Holliger. Light and airy music to relax by. All oboe and flute and yes, even harp lovers will enjoy this two-disc set."

"Aurele Nicolet is still unrivaled. He was not a showboat like Galway, he just played correctly and with spirit that the composers would have appreciated. Nicolet was my mom's favorite flautist, and she was a professional musician for years and years. There are so many recordings to choose from, it is sometimes hard. This one is easy. There aren't that many recordings of CPE Bach's stuff."
