Stunning concerti, brilliantly played & conducted

"CPE Bach is not nearly as well-known as his father, but he deserves to be. He is the "missing link" between the Baroque period and the "Sturm und Drang" of the late Classical-erly Romantic, as much an influence on Haydn as he was on Haydn's pupil Beethoven. This music, like the Magnificat, shows very well how much he influenced an entire era of music, though oddly his fame died with him. Spanyi's playing has drive and lift, essential ingredients in interpreting CPE Bach."
