"On Circuit Party 4 (discs 1&2) Peter Rauhofer mixes the biggest club hits here instead of the more tribal stuff he does on his live@roxy compilations. I'm a bit disappointed that the rare mix of Lulu is such a short edit, but it's great to get the essential part of Friburn & Urik's brilliant Take Me Love Me on CD-all that's really missing are the excessively long beat-only intro and outro. Disc 2 is a smorgasbord of hot dance styles, from upbeat to dark, and like disc 1, has the benefit of having basically a full length version of a friburn & urik mix, this time, Vicki Sue Robinson's Move On.
Circuit Party 5, Disc 3&4, starts off with very repetitive, instrumental tribal and hardhouse tracks. Disc 3 has a couple of standout vocal tracks, including a shortened version of the Hex Hector mix of Shannon, The amazing Johnny Vicious mix of "Show Me", and a pretty long version of the vinyl-only plasmic honey mix of Deborah harry-which to me, makes up for some of the more tedious moments on this disc. Overall, things pick up in the second half, and there were a couple of hot tracks I'd never heard before, including the incredible vocal track Vibe. On Disc 4, we once again begin with some repetitive stuff. Track 2 is filled with pops from the vinyl used. We get to some amazing vocal anthems-Void, Jump for Joi (the brilliant Santana mix), Encore-surrounded by a bit of filler, but also some really slammin' hardhouse tracks, like People get Down and Higher. And the awesome "everybody", which loops the string opening of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" into a real stomper. A good set, but geared more towards true club fans, and not the casual party mix lover.
Circuit Party 6 (Discs 5&6), keeps the party pumpin' with some of the most pounding tracks around. There's barely a bad track in the bunch, if not a few that have been overplayed. Only complaint here is that I wish Vernessa Mitchell's "Issues" had been closer to the full length of the 12" single. Disc 2 is more of the same, with perhaps a bit more filler and less strong vocal. But it ends strong with diva anthems by Pat Hodges and Ultra Nate.
