CD Reviews5 Stars is not enough H. Nijem | San Ramon, CA | 08/15/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you listen to the Amazon samples they don't quit do this music justice. The samples do not allow the baseline to kick in or even the melody to repeat and you can't get a feel for this album from the samples. Every song (except one) comes in at over 6 minutes, most over 7 minutes and the last song at 11 minutes. And at the end of every song I feel it "could" have gone another hour. The cover says "File Under: Ethno - Chill Ambient. The lyrics are based on Rumi's and other mystical poetry and the tracks carry an urban vibe rooted in meditation." I couldn't agree more. I often use the word fushion to describe music like this. I need to find a new word because these musicians have taken it to a whole new level. I played most of this album to a class of over 20 Yoga students and every one loved it. It had the energy to carry a power flow yoga class or even a more mellow party. The length of the songs allows a deep, slow driving bass line to hypnotize you as the melodic guitar, santoor and other instruments which I don't recognize carry you to another place. Yet this is not meditation music. It has incredibly energy. In the hands of lesser artists songs like this can feel redundant at times. Not here. These brilliant artists have made not only a great listening experience but they have created something magical. I listen to all the Buddha Bar, Lounge, etc. Claude Challe, Ravin, Arabica, etc. Traditional and modern stuff. I love all of it. This is one of the best." Electronic meditational music Michael V. O'kelley | jackson,ga | 02/20/2008 (3 out of 5 stars) "call of the mystic is a group of european guys collaborating on music that appeals to all spiritual aspirants. while meditating or contemplating in the early stages of spiritual awakening, it is sometimes very helpful to listen to some music to settle the mind. bahramji is such a group to listen to. food and music have a very unique quality, they reflect the consciousness of those that prepare and serve it. there is a mixture of tradtional indian instruments, the acoustic guitar and some really cool electronic stuff that puts the spiritual filling in the ol music pie that is bahramji. listen to this music and remember that you are the infinite universe-we become what we think we are-so, what do you think?" Ethno Trance Thomas P. Moran | Eastern Oregon | 12/31/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Great album full of hypnotic trance music drawing from Indian sounds to electronica. World music at it's finest. The deep pulsing bass is able to give those with great stereos, a fantastic piece of reference material.
Very recommended." |
