"Callisto returns three short years following 2006's Noir and delivers their finest work yet. Beautifully crafted and with a finely-tuned sound, Callisto takes the listener through an incredible soundscape guided by new lead singer Jani Ala-Hukkala's haunting vocals.



While not as bruising as True Nature Unfolds or Noir, Providence does contain all of the harsh vocals and thumping guitars you'd expect from a post-metal sludge band. I would point out notable tracks, but with such a solid album it is hard to isolate a few!



For fans of Pelican, Russian Circles, Isis, Mastodon, and Mouth of the Architect, this is a must listen!"

Disappointment Awaits

"Not even close to their last album True Nature Unfolds. The only similarity is the name of the band. Callisto used to crush you with their guitars, take you to space with their hypnotic melodies, and the vocals were sharp brutal screams. They could sit side by side with Cult of Luna at one time. Now they have fallen into the trap Cave In did with Jupiter. They went soft. The music is now sadly just lullabies to put the kids to sleep. The guitars have been replaced with mandolins. The new vocalist sings serenades 95% of the album & screams insecurely on maybe 2 tracks for 20 seconds tops. Huge let down here folks. Stick with Cult's Eternal Kingdom, Isis' Wavering Radiant, & Rosetta's Galilean Satellites for true post metal or whatever the label is these days."
