CD Reviews

A soulful, passionate take on Christmas Classics

"The Campbell Brothers are a true American Musical treasure.
Their newest release offers several fresh takes on an ecelectic mix of Christmas chestnuts.
This is not your standard note for note straight ahead take on Christmas songs, but rather a fun, aggressive, and musically stimulating romp through some great tunes.
The Campbells "Allman Brother-esque" approach makes these tunes ROCK!My favorites included a beautiful, haunting take on "Silent Night," a jazzy attack on "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and the most beautiful take on the Mel Torme classic, "Christmas Song" that I've ever heard (thanks to the ultra talented Denise Brown!)Se why the producers of the Sopranos included these guys on their show and second CD!! They are an amazing talent on the brink of super-stardom !!"
Brilliant! The perfect alternative to traditional Christmas

"The Campbell Brothers are pioneers of the Sacred Steel Gospel Movement, a type of music that started in House of God churches throughout the U.S. The music is not your typical church music, rather, it's a bunch of wailing guitars, big-voiced vocalists and blues rhythms.

This Christmas Album is undoubtedly one of the finest Christmas albums ever. The songs are beautifully chosen and well-arranged, and if this music doesn't get you off your feet and clapping, I'm not sure what will!

One of my very favorite things about this record is that the Campbell Brothers, devout Christians, decided to include "The Dreydl Song" among the tracks. Talk about a holiday message of peace and goodwill and loving your brother!

I recommend buying a dozen copies of this album and using them for holiday gifts when you're just not sure what to give. Instead of bringing a bottle of wine to a party, bring this. Instead of buying an ugly scarf for your secretary, give her this. It's universally enjoyable and chances are, the person you're giving it to won't already own it."
