"The Canadian Brass is a rare ensemble of new and old. They are always encouraging young musicians, often inviting the best and the brightest to join them. This keeps the sound new and fresh. And so the music as well. Here is a collection of war horses (that never disappoint), presented with new energy and freshness. This sound on this CD is exceptional -- bright and clear -- just like brass music should be."
Tribute to the Legends

""The compositions featured on LEGENDS are absolutely essential to appreciating the Canadian Brass legacy." That about sums up this cd.
Fans of the Canadian Brass will find no new compositions on this album but will find new recordings of old standards. I find I prefer some of the original recordings better, but that is only because they are engraved in my mind after years of playback. Even still, these new recordings bring fresh life back to old favorites. I am particularly impressed with the clarity of this album, which seems to surpass even the Canadian Brass standard.
This cd showcases the strengths of the current members of the Canadian Brass and is highly recommended to any fan of brass music."

"As another reviewer stated, "Old Warhorses" in terms of selections; but oh my, what playing! This is not "flashy" for the sake of flash; it is honest interpretations of the pieces; but outstanding players. I've never heard a brass version of "Adagio" by Barber. Well done indeed...I really enjoyed the scoring and playing. For a lighter touch, just how light, clear, and enjoyable can anyone make "Penny Lane"? The piccolo trumpet part is always a challenge, but here, it is superb! Clear, light, and effortless! I highly recommend the CD!"
