"Dream, originally released in 1978, skirts through several musical styles with success. It opens with the country-tinged "I'm On My Way" (which was a minor hit on country radio) and goes straight to pop perfection with "You Never Done It Like That", a Top 10 hit with a killer rhythm track and wonderfully suggestive lyrics. From there, we get the southern-style "Dixie Hummingbird" - which is lighthearted and fun - and more well-crafted pop on "You Need A Woman Tonight" (a top 40 hit). Next up is "Love Me Like A Baby" - - a quiet love song written by Toni Tennille and Howard Greenfield. It's just Toni and her piano on this one and it's pure beauty. "Love Is Spreading Over The World" is a bouncy feel-good tune penned by Neil Sedaka/Howard Greenfield with a driving string and horn arrangement by Daryl Dragon. Next up is an instrumental number called "D Keyboard Blues" by Darly Dragon. Dragon, master of the keyboards, shines on this one. "Good Enough" is another enjoyable pop tune with a driving, catchy beat. "If There Were Time" is a lush, sad song recorded live in the studio with a 33 piece orchestra conducted and arranged by the legendary Gordon Jenkins. Toni nails the vocals on this tune. "Back To The Island" is a Leon Russell song and sounds like it could have been on a Beach Boys album. If it had been released as a single it could have been a major hit. The album ends perfectly with "Dream" - - the old Johnny Mercer song that Captain and Tennille would play in their early club days. If your looking for an album that will take you on an enjoyable ride through the musical map this is the C & T album to buy."
A cornucopia of music!

"This album, released in 1978, is often cited by fans as their favorite Captain & Tennille disc because of its outstanding production. Though not one of my favorite albums by Captain & Tennille, this disc demonstrates the incredible diversity and musical talents of Toni & Daryl. The album ranges from country to gospel to pop (and also includes the beautiful live orchestral recording of "If There Were Time").
Toni Tennille is in top vocal shape with her powerful, soulful, and emotional reading of songs on this album.
Surprise cut: "Back To The Island" is a wonderful rendition of this Joe Cocker tune and features incredible harmonies and an a capella ending that will have you hitting the repeat button. Why A&M never released this song as a single "remains THE mystery" as one critic has noted. This song, in addition to "You Never Done It Like That" and "I'm On My Way", are highlights of this album, the last A&M recording by Captain & Tennille. Their next album, which is on Casablanca Records & Tapes, is more pop-driven, with a noted emphasis on commercial appeal.
Recommended."
This is an outstanding album...

"The Captain & Tennille are severely underrated in pop music. In the few years, and four albums, that they recorded for A&M Records, each new album was better than the preceding one, in terms of production and musicality. This, their final album for A&M and recorded in 1978, still sounds fresh. All of their albums were good, but this one is special. The material is terrific. The album contains their second most sensuous song, "You Never Done It Like That" (top honor goes to Tennille's own "Do That To Me One More Time"), plus some great album tracks: "Good Enough," "Back To The Island," "Dixie Hummingbird," "I'm On My Way," and the incredible title track. Don't let this one slip away."

"This rating is for the couple Captain and Tenille. I do not own this yet but will soon. I chose this pic for the dress color of Tenille"s is so bright and beautiful and the Captain looks like he is having a great time. This couple have been together and singing most of myself living. I wish they were doing more television shows and specials. A few favorites of theirs are: Do That To Me One More Time, Love Will keep Us Together, You Never Done It Like That and Keeping Our Love warm. There is nothing wrong with dreaming."

"My husband and I listened to each song this weekend as we drove a fair distance to our destination. We thoroughly enjoyed every single song. The vocals are so rich and strong with superb background vocals and instrumentation. The selecton of songs were diverse and some vocally challenging, but Tennille's superb voice can handle any song with grace and power. We enjoyed our trip all the more because we were accompanied by exceptional music and vocals. Our CD was delivered quickly and in perfect condition. I'm very happy with our purchase."
