"During the early 60's cuban veteran mambo/guaracha singer Orlando Guerra aka "Cascarita" traveled to Mexico, where he remained for the rest of his days. There Cascarita recorded a dozen or so of his famed hit songs he previously recorded for the RCA Victor label in Cuba, with the Julio Cuevas and Casino de La Playa orchestras during the 40's. In this CD recorded in Mexico for the Orfeon label Cascarita is accompanied by the Memo Salamanca orchestra. Salamanca is a veteran piano player/composer of afro-cuban rhythms and also played with Beny More and other cuban artists and groups who toured Mexico during the 40's and 50's. "Cascarita de Limon", "Rumba En Pueblo Nuevo", "Juan Sin Traba", "La Bodega del N~ato","Puntillita","El Baile del Sillon","El Telefonito","Baltazar Tiene Un Pollo","LLegaste Tarde" and "Un Meneito Na'Ma", delighted thousands in Cuba and elsewhere. IT wasn't just the hit songs it was Cascarita's unique voice and humorous style and personality which was immensely popular. Even though these are not his original recordings they are sure to please.
