Synopsis
Album Description "Slowly evolving soundscapes full of suspenseful tones, cinematic textures, and bleak ambience. elements of melancholic beauty arise and are quickly swallowed by uprisings of darkness. silent slow-motion melodies play with equanimity, blending into slowly revolving sound vortices - balancing perfectly between the rational and the irrational. quite possibly the most somber work caul has ever wrought. a beautiful, stunning album." CD ReviewsDark whispery ambient! Carl Johnson | Detroit, MI United States | 05/02/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "This is mood music. I got this as a gift and I am on first listen. I am impressed with it generally. Muein is one 60 minute piece. It has an avaunt gaurd flare simular to Controlled Bleeding or Autechre, but much darker. The focus on the first part of the peice is a very dark mummified astral plane or negative light projection, for lack of a better analogy. I would draw reference to Robert Rich, though on my first listen, Robert is better... but this may become more appealing over time. I get images of dampness and deep "in-the-middle-of-night" spaces. The feeling is simular to going to a murder mystery movie and the type of tension one gets when watching a GOOD scary movie. However, this music does not "peak" like a good thriller. I am also reminded on Main's HZ record, though there is more blantent sound on this recording. This is probably mostly electronic instrumentation with varied sound effects. This categorically fits the dark ambient mode overall. It is not something I will listen to everyday but a CD I will remember and not neglect when the mood is right. This CD is well thought out musically, but poorly marketed. I have never heard of it and it was released in 2002. Not for mainstream listeners. Good spin!"
