Synopsis
Album Description Keep On Truckin' is Caustic Resin's sixth full length album since their incarnation over a decade ago. The album was recorded at Audio-Lab in Garden City, Idaho by Jon Mullin (Doug Martsch, The Suffocation Keep), with some additional recording done at The Space in Ballard, WA, and tracking & mixing at Hall of Justice in Seattle by Phil Ek (Modest Mouse, Les Savy Fav, et al.) & Brett Netson. "Keep On Truckin'" was produced by Caustic Resin & Jim Roth, with Jim engineering. The band consists now of Netson (guitar and vocals), Mike Johnson (bass and guitar), and Pat Perkins (drums). Netson explains the difference between Keep On Truckin, and previous releases: "The last two were sort of experiments. This one is more grim, sort of outwardly vicious. Not as self-involved. Been living in LA off and on, there's different kinds of things that are in your face on a daily basis. A lot less space. A variety of dangers. The record kind of reflects that." Tom Romich and Jim ! Roth (Voodoo Gearshift, The Delusions) round out the artists involved, with Tom performing vocals on "8th St." and bass on other tracks, and Jim playing steel guitar on "Message to Shareholders" and "Viva La Causa!" with the former also receiving treatment from him on moog. |
CD ReviewsGet In! chris x | Mankato, MN | 06/27/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This record is totally killer! At first I thought it may be simply good, but I soon realized that it's completely awesome! I saw them play live because I knew I had to hear them playing these songs, and it was so good, I had to go see them play again! "Fly Me To The Moon" was a really good album, but it's almost too hard to believe how good "Keep On Truckin'" is. It's very similar to looking at the sun, you should never completely focus your eyes on it, but simply have a general knowledge of it being there and what it's like, or risk injury to yourself. That's the way in which you should handle thinking about how totally mindblowing this record is. You probably should have a listen, unless you want to do something like be really stupid." Pure Unadulterated Caustic Resin atariv8 | Sanford, NC United States | 03/24/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "Although not very accessable to first time listeners, this is a tried and true Caustic Resin album. Sometimes I have a hard time knowing where their next record will lead, but they never disappoint. First timers should probably grab "The Medicine is All Gone" first (still my favorite) and work their way into this record. I thnk this is a great album and strongly recommend it to any fan." Caustic continue to astound. richie richardson | Intercourse, PA | 06/27/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Okay, this album is quite a bit different from my last favorite, The Medicine's All Gone, but still recognizably Caustic Resin.
It seems like bands growing and changing is a problem for some people, but who wants a repeat of another album? That just seems like a dumb way to listen to music. after listening to this record a few times I now believe this to be the best record Brett and company have made, I also noticed that they now have a killer video on their causticresin.com site, and all I can say is, way to go!" |
