"Even though I thought C&J's first array into psychedelia, 1967's "Of Cabbages and Kings" was quite interesting, I found this one to be the best out of all the albums the duo has recorded during their career. So, as soon as I first popped the Sundazed reissue of this classic-their last album for Columbia-in my CD player, I found myself becoming highly addicted to the music on this disc. I'm not kidding. And it's like the liner notes described, they went "out with a bang, not a whimper". I'd definitely add this one to my list of all time favorite albums of the 60's, along with the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper", Love's "Forever Changes", the Byrds' "The Notorious Byrd Brothers", and other great records I enjoy from that period.

Best album from the sixties you've never heard of

"It's great to see this album availiable, albeit through import. It's a real mindboggler as to why this album hasn't gotten the recognition it so duly deserves. It would have done better I'm sure,if Columbia records had only promoted it properly. This is pure "Mad as a hatter and British as a sixpence" psychedelia as popularized by the Beatles...not the reverb drenched, blues based American junk as was foisted on us by the likes of the Jefferson Airplane.A true psychedelic lost classic and worthy contemporary of both pepper and pet sounds,if you're anything like me it'll stay in your cd player for ages."
Extraordinary "Lost Classic"

"Chad and Jeremy's "The Ark" was their most accomplished album. Following the less polished (but more brilliant) Of Cabbages and Kings, they combined the "concept album" approach of Cabbages with more diverse, commercial and lyrical selections. Still the title track "The Ark" has all the bite and satire of their finest works and the long version of "Painted Dayglow Smile" (contained on this album) is stunning. The album is beautifully orchestrated and has great sound quality. It is tragic that this album has never been released on CD domestically, but this Japanese Import contains all the original tracks and is an absolute "must" for any serious collector of music. It is critical that Chad and Jeremy's greatest work, Of Cabbages and Kings be released on CD."
One of the great sleeper albums of the classic rock era.

"An album that defies categorization: a little rock, a little folk, a little silliness, a little pathos, a little Paul Simon and a little Beatles influence. I've been hunting this CD for months. Since I first bought the album shortly after its original release and played the heck out of it, it remained one of those albums that I always dug out 3 or 4 times a year. It's an unrecognized classic!"
Good, But Second Best

"A very good pick for C&J fans. I'll be even happier when somebody wakes up out there and re-releases Of Cabbages and Kings."
