"CHANSONS POUR FELLINI -- One could get turned off by the typical frenetic Fellini circus melody from the opener, "Lo sceicco bianco" ("The White Sheik" -- comedy satirizing celebrity culture available on DVD from Criterion). Proceed nonetheless and you'll find many charming melodies and lyrics. "Giulietta degli spiriti" is sweet (JULIET OF THE SPIRITS is also available on DVD from Criterion). I enjoy everything here, though the best song on the CD is no doubt the haunting, lovely "Lla ri llira" from LE NOTTI DI CABIRIA (and THE NIGHTS OF CABIRIA is also available on DVD from Criterion). Katyna Ranieri employs the classic torch singer style and the "Cabiria" song is enchanting and recalls the devastating finale of one of Fellini's finest films. The CD is worth purchasing for that song alone."

"Thelonis Luck sums it up. Bought this album 15 years ago from Tower Records in Boston for $35. Impulse purchase... had never heard of Katyna Ranieri. It has provided immense enjoyment over the years. Amarcord is my favorite... but they are all simply wonderful!"
