Sisterhood is powerful--not! Faced with a friend whose lover is not only "cheatin'" but "beatin'" on her, Chante Moore informs her that she must get home because "Chante's Got a Man." Unfortunately not an update of Positive K's self-deprecating early-'90s rap hit "I Got a Man," This Moment Is Mine's first single instead is all too typical of an ego fest of an album that also finds the singer praising (on "Blooming Flower") the "shining colors of a love that's ours," then kicking the guy to the curb because "I'm on a course set before we met." The efforts of star producers such as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Jermaine Dupri, and Rodney Jerkins are all sadly wasted on this soft-soul project, whose depth is perhaps best indicated by this liner-note shout out to Jesus: "You are so awesome. Thank you for being God!" --Rickey Wright

Chante's represents!

"I just recently became a chante moore fan so I can't really compare her old work, but as for her latest, I think it is madd ill. Perhaps if you are an old fan of hers than you WON't like this album, but if you just recently got into chante moore than you will appreciate this master piece. I noticed how everyone focused on "Chante's got a man" where she is simply saying that there are good BLACK MEN out there. On tracks like "This moment is mine" she is simply stating the fact that it is now her chance to shine. No more playing second hand to ANYONE. "My favorite song is "I see you in a different light" this is a duet with JOJO. in this song she really displays her vocals and what she wants out in a man. If people took the time out to read her credits and who she gave thanks to for the album then perhaps they will understand what this album is about. On tracks like "in my life" chante seems to displays her affection for her man. With a deep beat to fit right along with what she is singing makes this song top notch. "Curtains fall down/lights come on/I'm alone in the dark/And I sang final notes from my heart"... ChANTE sings beautifully on "in my life". Sure some of Moore's old fans may be upset with the album, but if you are a new-comer to her music then don't pass this album up.It is defiantly worth your money! peacemic-12"

"Simply put it, Chante wanted to go mainstream and put togetther this car wreck of a CD, and got some okay results. That inspired her to follow up with that crappy CD "Exposed", in which her career has yet to recover from. But enough with that.

The okay results, were the first two released tracks, "Chante's Got A Man" and "I See You In A Different Light" (duet with JoJo Hailey). These two tracks are definately different from her previous work, and yes they come off well, especially the duet with JoJo. She got a nice buzz from that. But neither track did nothing to help this album stand out or side by side with "Precious" and "A Love Supreme".

The experiment goes wrong with the tracks laced by Jerkins and Dupri., especially the Jerkins produced "If A Gave Love", which starts off sounding like Brandy & Monica's, "The Boy Is Mine" and then rips off Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love", (now I heard of beat jacking, but knowing that Jerkins produced all three of these tracks, this here takes the cake, that and finishing what was left of Michael Jackson's musical career).

YUCK!!!!, I mean Chante is 100 times more talented than all three of those women and Rodney Jerkins combined, needless to say I always skip that track. "Heartbeat", wasn't helping matters either, then there's "I've Got The Love" and "I Started Crying" (me too @ 13.99 plus tax I will never have again), and now I'm ready to trash this CD. Mainstream isn't worth all of this.

But then came tracks like "Easy", "I Cry To Myself", "In My Life", "Love And The Woman", and "This Moment Is Mine", which saves the album from the pits of suckdom. This where Chante shines, and shows why fans care about her. In all, I say it's a good CD, but you know deep inside you could have gotten better."
Chante Begins Her Decline

"What happened with this woman? She put out two of the best r&b-jazz albums of the 90s and then took five years off to come up with this? What a waste of talent. While this album has some good moments, this cd fails compared to her previous masterpieces. Most people say, "Chante Got A Man" is her best single on this cd, which is sad because this single is the weakest song on this cd. IMO, "Love and the Woman" (a song about a woman's love for her man, child and GOD) and "Blooming Flower" (beautifully written with Simon Law) are the best songs. But Chante reaches her lowest point ever with "If I Gave Love", which sounds EXACTLY like JLO's "If You Had My Love". Maybe that's because the same man produced it (Rodney Jenkins). This is why Chante failed on this album. She wanted to work with hot producers and sold her soul for success with awful results. How do Chante go from working with the great George Duke to Rodney Jenkins? I will never understand it, but her talents are wasted on this mess."
