"An incredibly prolific and wonderful songwriter, who's songs have been interpreted by numerous artists, no one can sing Aznavour like Aznavour...his powerful, tremulous voice is so packed with emotion, you don't have to understand French to feel these songs in your heart. Songs of love, and love lost, a mother dying, a woman who's let herself go after many years of marriage...slices of life, told with so much beauty and passion.I had the good fortune to attend Aznavour's first U.S. concert at Carnegie Hall. He's an electrifying performer, and after 40 years, I still remember it...the best concert I've ever been to. Some of the magic is in this CD...favorites include "La Mamma", "Qui", "La Boheme", and "Les Deux Guitares".
This is an excellent compilation, and makes a great "first Aznavour CD"...I recommend staying away from the English language recordings, and let the soul of his songs in French captivate you, and you might, like me, be a fan forever."

"Chansons D'Or is a beautifully romantic album to own. Each time I listen I am transported back to my vacation in France. Aznavour is a true artist in his singing and song writing. I love each song and listen to the album often without tiring of it. This is a true classic that all genres can appreciate!"
Beautiful even if you can't understand French !

"Dubbed Charles 'As-no-voice' by English comedians in the 70's, this man in fact has a fantastic voice. I bought this a month ago and haven't stopped playing it, great for listening to alone, when friends are over but most of all it is pure romance and French nostalgia. Buy it , you won't regret it !"
