His baritone is deceptively smooth--behind his crooning lies a warm and gentlemanly twang that is the expressive equal of most any of his contemporaries. Collecting 12 country hits released between 1966 and '74, Platinum is a swell introduction to his work. "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'" (which also charted pop) will be instantly recognizable to even passing country fans, but hits like the poor-boy's anthem "All I Have to Offer You Is Me" and his chart debut, "Just Between You and Me," are bona fide country classics in their own right. --David Cantwell« less

"Charley Pride has been my favorite country singer since I was a little girl. My parents only played country music, so I developed a taste for it (along with other styles). This past weekend my parents took me to see Mr. Pride for my 41st birthday. I cried. His voice is as wonderful in person as it is on this CD. He has the capability to sing his own and other's music with equal talent. You're going to want to add this to your collection . . . and if you ever get the chance, go see him. You won't regret it."
I like charley pride's old songs

"charley had, or i should say still has one of the most beautiful voices to come across the airwaves this century. this cd only exemplifies this in each and every track."

"These are re-recordings of Mr. Pride's greatest hits from the late 60's/early 70's. Some of the musicians are the same guys as on the originals recordings. The sound is very good compared with the old ones. And Mr. Pride's smooth, tender baritone just seems to get better with the years. A treat, this one."
