It doesn't do as well as a coherent collection, but with an artist such as Mr. Parker, it would be impossible to achieve both.I am just beginning to delve into older jazz recordings, and chose this record as an inexpensive way to become acquainted with Charlie Parker's work, and I was not disappointed. This CD really gives the listener a feeling for the breadth of Parker's accomplishments, and leaves one wanting to hear more.For the serious jazz collector, this CD might be extraneous. I would buy some complete Parker albums rather than this CD. However, for the novice collector or new jazz buff, this CD is a good introduction to Parker's artistry and versatility."
