"Not for the period instrument enthusiasts, this version has Maurice Andre in full form bellowing out the impressive trumpet sections of the Te Deum, accompanying a chorus and soloists. This is how Charpentier probably would have wanted it performed, though probably didn't have the resources to do it in the late 1600's.
I thought the soloists did a good job in both the Te Deum and Magnificat. This album is a good way for people to develop an appreciation of the French baroque beyond Mouret's Masterpiece Theatre theme.
