CD Reviews

Well worth picking up
Christopher W. Curry | Indianapolis, IN | 04/17/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This latest release from Jared Louche and company is a hard, techno-dance-floor reworking of Chemlab's underrated 2003 release, "Oxidizer". These re-mixes, by 17 different artists, vary wildly from the original versions, yet retain enough of the source material to make them unmistakably Chemlab. Terrorfakt pulled off an especially caustic rendition of "Black Snake" that is as dancey as it is aggressive. Of course it's always nice to hear anything that Die Warzau touches, and here they deliver rather amicably on "Scornocopia". Other acts include: Cubanate, 16 Volt, Christ Analogue, haloblack, Needleye and Cyanotic plus 10 others who also do these Chemlab tunes great justice.

What makes this project differ from other collections of the sort (especially one with a near 80 minute running time) is that there isn't one single bad number present. Naturally, depending on the tastes of the individual listener, some of them will come across stronger than others. Still, hopefully, "Rock[...] Vs. Dance Floor" will allow long-time fans a chance to reacquaint themselves with Chemlab and all that is good about them. Even better is the idea that this release may introduce a whole new generation of discerning music lovers to one of the finest in Industrial Rock."
