"«CASABLANCA YEARS» is the right CD to buy if you're after the original tracks, featured in their proper & original length. Note that this album includes the short versions of the classics «Take Me Home», "Wasn't It Good", "Happy Was The Day We Met" & "Say The Word".
The first two tracks really don't belong on this album «Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) & «You Better Sit Down Kids»."
Fun, Campy, Bluesy, and, well, Cher

"This album was an inspired "comeback" for Cher when it was originally released by Casablanca in the late 70's. The title song was a major hit, and has aged better than expected. The rest of the album is a grab bag of styles -- from the bluesy "Guitar Groupie" to the country "It's Too Late to Love Me Know". Other highlights include the very personal "My Song (Too Far Gone)" and the hard-to-listen-with-a-straight-face "Wasn't It Good". If only the company who re-released this hadn't added two earlier Cher songs ("You Better Sit Down Kids" and "Bang Bang") -- good songs, but they don't really fit with the rest of this album. And one added delight: the original cover artwork -- campy, strange, cool. The "Casablanca Years" album contains all the original songs from "Take Me Home" plus all the songs from "Prisoner", so that is actually a better buy, but if you want the original artwork, this is the one."

"a travisty to say the least. How can anyone take such a "classic" song and butcher it up, and then sell a cd that containes almost no originals songs from the original album. The songs included in this cd are awful. I can only hope that a "new" original recording is done. I felt cheated when I bought this cd, hoping to find such great songs as "wasn't it good" and "happy was the day we met" "say the word" all in there full length versions. Even the greatest hits has a cut version of "take me home". What is going on here!"
Cher: Take Me Home (1979)

"After the release of GREATEST HITS, Cher went on to record many other albums. By this point, Cher had released the albums: ALL I REALLY WANT TO DO (1965), THE SONNY SIDE OF CHER (1966), CHER (1966), BACKSTAGE (1967), WITH LOVE, CHER (1968), 3614 JACKSON HIGHWAY (1969), GYPSYS, TRAMPS & THIEVES (1971), FOXY LADY (1972), HALF-BREED (1973), BITTERSWEET WHITE LIGHT (1974), DARK LADY (1974), GREATEST HITS (1974), STARS (1975), I'D RATHER BELIEVE IN YOU (1976), CHERISHED (1977), & PRISONER (1979). In late 1979, after PRISONER failed to seek high-topping chart status, Cher released her seventeenth album, TAKE ME HOME. This album would be Cher's last high-topping album for the next eight years. Before I get to the songlisting, I'd better point out that the tracklisting that is listed on Amazon.com does not have each song that was featured on the album when it was first released. But don't worry, I have the original tracklisting right here, so read on to find out more.
TAKE ME HOME
The first single from the album. This song, apparently, seemed to be the only hit from the album, and it would go on to be Cher's last hit single for the next eight years. This song displays Cher's amazing Disco era. A song anybody and everybody can dance to and have a good time.
WASN'T IT GOOD
Not bad.
SAY THE WORD
Not bad.
HAPPY WAS THE DAY WE MET
I put this song out to anybody who is in a healthy and happy relationship. A song too good not to miss.
GIT DOWN (GUITAR GROUPIE)
Not bad.
LOVE AND PAIN
We all know that Love And Pain are not two separate words because Love Is Pain. Many of us go through life not knowing that Love is Pain and that Pain Is Love. This is a song the whole world, yes, the whole world should relate to because we all know that it is true.
LET THIS BE A LESSON TO YOU
All I know is you are in a relationship with me, you better not cheat on me because I will give you a lesson you will most certainly never forget. Just kidding. I'm just full of good humor. But remember, that whoever you date, you better look out because you screw up the relationship by screwing someone else, your partner will Let It Be A Lesson To You.
IT'S TOO LATE (TO LOVE ME NOW)
My whole family basically can relate to this song. Anyone of us in my family could have a bad relationship. Once one of us breaks off a relationship, we never turn back to that same person for rebound. This is a song everybody should listen to.
MY SONG (TOO FAR GONE)
Not bad.
This albums wasn't the best in all of Cher's catalog, but it is certainly enough to enjoy. So, get ready to make some more space in your Cher collection because you're ready to TAKE THIS ALBUM HOME."
