Synopsis

He's been called the King of the Pickers, but even that title doesn't do justice to Chet Atkins. His distinctive finger-picked playing has served as a model for generations of guitarists, both in and out of the country realm. This Christmas collection showcases the full range of Chet's playing, from the delicate touch applied on such hymns as "Away in a Manger" to the rousing flourishes that guarantee toes will tap to tunes like the title track and "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow." Sure, you'll be able to sing along, but unlike many instrumental albums, Chet's is full enough that sitting back to listen is even more pleasurable.--David Sprague

CD Reviews

The perfect Christmas album
Playit Again | Central California, USA | 01/10/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is the perfect Christmas background album. Just enough vocals to make it interesting--mostly just warm interesting instrumental music in Chet Atkins' style. We gave it to all our grownup kids for Christmas and, of course, kept one for ourselves."
A Christmas Gem!

"I'm always annoying my wife by buying Christmas CDs that "we don't need." I broke this one out in the car and said, "Just listen to it once." I played the song "East Tennessee Christmas" first. Afterwards she said, "THAT is beautiful" and now she loves the rest of the CD as much as I do. Truly a gem."
Truly a Christmas Gem

"The purity of this CD by a true master is almost hypnotic. Just the cut "East Tennessee Christmas" is worth the price. A little-known Christmas gem."
