Another great live Richter recording

"Anyone dimly aware of Richter's career realizes that there is almost a superhuman quality to it --- truly no pianist rivalled his intellectual curiosity in music of all periods. His recorded legacy continues to generate intense interest as older, archival versions of his repertoire are unearthed and compared to existing or known releases.
Richter's many recordings of the same compositions provide a window into his intellectual, technical and spiritual development. This version of the Scherzi find him in an Apollonian frame of mind, balancing the extremes of passion and transcendance in these works. They have undoubted quality and integrity. If you listen to a recording in search of the performance that you have in your mind's eye, then you are searching for yourself, and not the composer as interpreted through the artist.
So this is a wonderful gem for me, at a very reasonable price, in very good sound. It is simply a facet in the towering and almost incomprehensible geological formation that was Richter's contribution to pianistic art in the 20th century."
