True to her word

"In her sleeve note Barbara Nissman claims,"This recording will underscore the dichotomy that exists within Chopin's beloved piano repertoire - the emotional complexity of its interior world lies hidden beneath the lyrical simplicity of its outer layers."
This dichotomy is certainly palpable, especially in the two large masterpieces - Fantasy in F minor Op 49 and the Polonaise-Fantasy Op 61, where simmering emotional unrest ripples under the surface of Nissman's sensitively conceived interpretations.
These are innovative performances from a deep thinking pianist whose tempo rubato and singing line, in her phrsasing of the three Nocturnes especially, single her out as a born Chopin player.
