CD Reviews

There is more to DeBurgh than a Lady in Red!
Francis DesCoteaux | Ottawa, Canada | 05/18/2000

"All of Chris de Burgh's songs really touch my heart and soul. This album shows that there is more to the artist than a Lady in Red! It highlights the story telling and rocker abilities of the artist as well as is talent for writing beautiful love songs. For those who already have most of these songs, it's worthwhile getting just for the track "There's A New Star Up In Heaven Tonight". The song is a wonderful tribute to Lady Diana and is not available on any other CD."
A Review From an older fan

"Back in 1975 I stumbled across a record entitled "The Spanish Train and Other Stories" and was hooked. Luckily my parents didn't take exception to the lyrics of "The Spanish Train", "A Spaceman Came Travelling", or "Another Poor Boy". Seaking out his music I was able to track down his early record, and I continued to buy them as they were released.Luckily I was around when the big record to CD switch over happened - when recording companies released their back catalogs on CDs - and was able to duplicate my collected on CDs. Since then I've picked up all his CDs as they've been released. What can I say about this? Well, I'd heard almost all the music on it before I bought it. The Princess Di song was new, and worth the price of the CD. Of the songs included, well, I have weakeness for some of his older songs (not here) so these wouldn't be the ones I'd pick for a best of album, but I can't really disagree with the ones picked here. It covers only one of his albums from the 70s, skips much of the 80s, and has some of his more recent work. If you enjoyed "The Lady in Red" you'll like most of the songs heres, and "The Spanish Train" represents the style of the songs not included. What can I say about either the songs or the artist that hasn't been said? Both are excellence. Chris de Burgh is in a class by himself"
Chris is a true artist

"i don't have the album, but i have all the song's on it. And i would recoommend it to those who do not know the genuis that is chris de burgh. His true magic is found in his ability to transform words to pictures, and his voice is in a class apart, smooth tender and sweet. For someone to say that he's music is tuneless is outrageous. If you like tracy chapman's style of music, you will like chris, if you like rock, you will like chris and if you love ballads you can not help but admire his tunes. I have all of his albums, and each one is special in it's style. The lyrics are always brilliant and the music is almost always great. (some do not apeal to me, but not many). The lady in red doses not make the true chris de burgh as most poeple who don't know him think, it's rather tunes like spanish train and revolution that make him the artist he is. I did not give it five stars because i feel it has only a few of Chris de Burgh's great work, some fantastic song's have been leftout (but that's normal when you have about 17 album's to choose from) hope i have been of help to you buyers, if you what to have more info on chris , contact me!"
